Why are women classified "Sluts"??
Just because they like sex?
I would like to get a hold of the person, or person's, that are responsible for stereotyping women to be a slut just because they like having sex. After all, women are hornier than men will ever be. Am I right, or wrong ladies??
REDS1: I find that most women know that the world SLU* is an inflammatory term that most don't like to hear. I also find that when two women are unwilling to compromise on some issues, that they themselves will use that term, and with a great deal in ingeniousness, more so than a man would or could. Ifuonlynu: could be that some man long ago decided that women should only have 1 and men can have lots, then other women started following that and telling other women and now if you've had more than 1 or 2 in your life...you're a slut. And yes we do use it in anger on each other....what's a worst insult?

Thefirstminx: I'm not bothered about being called a slut by guys...that's the whole point isn't it really? But yes, if another woman says it then it does become a problem. HOWEVER, fat is a bigger problem, though both of the above are true, one is going to get to me more than the other every time.
And I don't care how many blokes you've got going at one time, they should just be grateful they're getting a piece of you! x

slut doesn't bother me either. i guess it's because i've finally come to a place in my life where i know who i am and i'm comfortable with who i am so it doesn't bother me if someone calls me something like that without really knowing me.
however if a close friend were to say something like that and truly mean it then i would be very hurt. not so much that she said the word but that someone i thought knew me well obviously doesn't and doesn't want to. so i would feel betrayed and that would hurt a lot.
as far as fat goes..... nah that's not insulting it's just a description. i am fat so no biggie if someone calls me fat... i'd just have to say... yep i know!

Anariesman: Slut really can be both a nasty thing to call someone.. or a sexy one, depending on context. So can Nasty for that matter. I do think that people who use it to be derogatory tend to have some jealousy issues, or insecurities.
The contrary for that, is that women can get "laid" pretty much anytime they want, as we are so fond of reading :) For men, it is a challenge ( in the difficulty sense). So in my opinion that's where Some of the double standard comes from. I don't happen to agree that it should be any reason for looking down on someone, unless that's just not the person you are looking for.
Then there is also the Biology angle, where if sex was about having babies, as it is with every other species ( aside from some gay lions i read about) then a female of the species who avails herself of multiple "inferior males" (in the view of the dominants) then she is threatening the herd, group, pack, etc... That behavior would be met with being at least partly ostracized.
I sure am glad that we got past the Sex only to Breed concept... In that system, me trying to get a little action would have some football player kicking my ass and chasing me away from his posse. Hmm.. I seem to remember in high school?? Oh well.. I guess some instincts die hard for some people.

Sherper: In the scheme of things monogamy is relatively new. It is something that has been taught generation after generation over the coarse of more resent history of human kind.
Monogamy has reduced the on set of dreadful diseases and also has slowed the population explosion in our world. It has also slowed down the violence that seemed to follow with insecure males and their women and more then a few feuds and wars have started over the love interests of a lady.
Since the advent of reliable birth-control methods women have been more able to come out of their shell and start to really enjoy sex for the pleasure that it usually gave men without the fear of pregnancy or worse unwanted pregnancy. The biggest fear today is that women will finally come into their own and enjoy living as a truly free spirit and person with choices they can make without the repercussions that used to come with them. Women do not need men in order to survive and there are plenty of men out there who truly fear this.
And men are not alone. Women can be worse them men when it comes to judging one of their own. The fear that "she can do something I do not" or can "do it better" or "do it more often" sometimes it is just the perceived freedom another woman has that one doesn't; single, no children, better looking, getting more attention etc etc.
You have to consider the source sometimes and just move on, small minds never amount to much, they just muck things up a bit.

Nice comment. I'm glad that all of you find this topic worth discussing. You havew alot of good comments. I too am glad we have gotten past the whole "sex for reproduction thing" Thank God. Now if the roles could just be switched for one week. All of us men would be completely exhausted, and drained. Believe that!!!!

She drove Adam to doing a knothold and she caught him from the other side of the tree and told him that it looks like a "Stud-Delight", which was a flower that ejects small bursts of a white liquid from a small hole in the center at the same time it make an "unintelligible" explosive sound. Something like this, Aaaaahhhh, AAAaaahh, AAAhhh. Later, the word "stud-delight" was shortened to just "Stud". CookieEater: I dated a woman who would get even more turned on during sex if I called her a slut. I had absolutely no idea that she wanted me to do this until one time in the heat of passion she asked me to call her that. At first, I was a bit intimidated by this behavior but I figured, what the hell? If that's what she wanted and it helped her get off then certainly I'd be a willing partner. Mind you, I wouldn't ever refer to a woman as a slut out of that setting because of the negative connotation and its degrading and belittling mean-spiritedness. It's one thing to use it as a role-play.... it's quite another to use it as a means to hurt someone.

Amaze: I don't think women are called sluts because they enjoy sex, I think they are called sluts due to the way they present themselves. A woman can enjoy sex and still act like a lady; however, some fail to realize this and do act like sluts.
