13 Bitch
0 Doormat

I dont consider myself a bitch BUT I would rather be known that way when push comes to shove because I will never be a DOORMAT again!- Candie_

Really? Who likes to be around someone who always wants to do what you want to do? I like to be able to exchange thoughts, ideas, etc. Sometimes, people who are doormats are like shouting into a phone when the other end is unattended.- cviper

I dont think this has anything do making people do what you want~ it was more along the lines of saying "NO!" Or Being able to be assertive and speak up for yourself......even if people think your a bitch it totally makes it better then getting crapped on all the time. - Candie_

Sorry, I guess I wasn't being clear. You're right its not about being manipulative or bossy. What I was trying to say, unsuccessfully, was that if you have an opinion on any issue, let me know. I don't read minds. Seriously, I do want to know what you think and, if I disagree, we can reach a compromise. I don't want to crap on anyone anymore than I want anyone's crap.- cviper

No need to be sorry

I suppose some people do use Bitchiness to get their own way~
But I was thinking more along the lines of not getting taken advantage of and just telling people straight out how you feel. I just learned how to say no to people 10 years ago.....and boy did I get crapped on before then. Now, I just say no and if they think that makes me a bitch then thats okay because at least they dont think I am a doormat.
See the difference?- Candie_

Of course, I do. Actually, I still have to learn to say no myself. I often find myself saying yes to things I don't really want to do. I know that it takes a certain amount of courage to do what you are saying and I appreciate and admire that.- cviper

Count me in, too....as another bitch, for sure!
the discussion for clarification is good!- ladyflicker

Everyone who has problems saying no.....Just do it and don't worry if it makes someone mad at you.

If they are going to get mad for you expressing yourself choosing not to do something that you are uncomfortable with then you don't need them in your life! At least that was what helped me - Candie_

ok, guy #2 pitching in. honestly, i like to be the one who decides issues after a mutual discussion, but only reluctantly will be boss if it comes down to a decision we can't agree on, and i'm certain enough that i'm correct. if i don't feel that certain, i'd rather defer the matter to her, than suffer damage to the relationship.

i'd prefer a lady to not be a bitch or a doormat. no normal guy wants to be anywhere near a bitchy woman. and personally, i've raised my children to think independently, and if i thought i was going to have to treat a woman like a 10 year old child, it would irritate me to no end. - mikemail2anthony

Hi Mike I think you took this out of context; Heres what I meant:
I dont think this has anything do making people do what you want~ it was more along the lines of saying "NO!" Or Being able to be assertive and speak up for yourself......even if people think your a bitch it totally makes it better then getting crapped on all the time.

Women are raised to be a certain way.....I was told not to talk back to my elders, company is more important then I am and be nice and helpful.

Sometimes when we get older we can have a tough time making the transition to realizing that we can be who we want to be, not what we were told. As a result, some women have a tough time saying "no" because then they are not being nice and kind and helpful the way they were raised.

Which brings me to say that if I want to say no and someone takes it that makes me a bitch....so be it; its much better then being a doormat! (A.K.A People pleasing sweetheart)

In fact I have a family member who cannot say no to anyone....she got so disgusted at people calling her and asking her to help people that she told everyone not to ask her anymore because she cannot tell them no....Kinda ass backwards if you ask me but at least she spoke up for herself..only problem was by the time she did she was so bitchy about it. But then again......better then being a doormat. - Candie_

gotcha. i have known a few doormats. in fact, at one time, i was engaged to one. as long as it didn't interfere with her children, she'd do whatever anyone else needed her to do. it drove me nutso-bonkers trying to get her to grow some guts.

it doesn't make someone a bitch to say no when the situation calls for it. there are various levels of politeness that can be tailored to the needs of each situation, that range from:

"i'm terribly sorry, but i'm not sure i'm going to be able to do this..."
to "go f#%& yourself, a*$hole!"

but, yes, i see your point about having the choice between being the crapper or the crappee. i think that some people put too much importance into how others regard them.- mikemail2anthony

Exactly Right Mike! - Candie_
