Freaky hen does the funky chicken
When an egg-laying hen suddenly grew a bright red cock's comb and started crowing at dawn, her British owners were stunned.
After eight months of proper hen-like behavior, she began to pick fights with the roosters and try to make it with her own brood mates.
What to do? Rename the chicken Freaky and check with the Poultry Club of Great Britain, of course. Apparently, the gender switch is due to a flood of testosterone, and it's extremely unusual.
According to the secretary of the National Federation of Poultry Clubs, Adrian Keep, "It does happen, but the odds are very, very rare. I've only seen it once in 55 years."
