Bondage Exposed

By: Tala

One of the main things that make up BDSM is bondage.  Bondage is, simply put, being restrained or restraining someone, be it with rope, cuffs, chains, or any other physical form there of.

There is also a form of bondage called “mental bondage.”  Here, the submissive is held in place by the will of the Dominant, using no fetters whatsoever.  It is a very intense form of bondage, precisely because the submissive must rely on his own will to perform the will of the Dominant.

Bondage is much easier on the submissive when actual fetters are used.  It removes all choice from the submissive, making them subject to the Dominant's desires without having to exert any self-control.  Most submissives who are into bondage prefer this.

Shibari is a form of bondage which is intricate and delicately beautiful.  Often seen as a “rope dress,” this form is commonly called “Japanese Rope Bondage.”  A good shibari master can spend hours and hours putting together an intricate web design, not unlike a patient spider weaves its own web in delicate patterns.  Once the pattern is complete, the master can easily remove it, often with just one simple tug of a seemingly random piece of the rope with which he worked.

Another favorite is breast bondage, especially for those Dominants whose precious pets are large-breasted.  It can be a very interesting sensation to the trembling submissive girl whose breasts are bound firmly with stout rope, usually numbing the sensations given to the breast – until the binding comes off.

Even the complete novice can learn to successfully bind someone.  It's not as difficult as one might think, though with any form of bondage, certain safety precautions must be taken.

Simple knots, like the ones we're all taught when learning to tie our shoes, can be very effectively used.  Granny knots can hold a lot of pressure, and square knots can be easily adjusted.

Wrists, hands, arms, legs, ankles, feet and genitals, especially male, can easily be bound without serious pain and no damage, however the type of rope and tautness of the binding are factors that must be considered carefully.  As a general rule of thumb, the smaller the diameter of the rope, the tighter it can be tied or pulled, which could result in some serious injuries.

Above all, if you are interested in bondage, research! Read everything you can find, ask questions of those who are experienced in the bondage scene, and attend as many bondage munches as you can before you try it on someone or allow someone to try it on you.  Enjoy!
